Dignitaries Swap Duties To Support English Tourism Week

DIGNITARIES from Weston-super-Mare swapped their normal duties to help out at a South West Attraction and learn the importance of tourism to the national economy.

Puxton Park, in Hewish, welcomed the Mayor of Weston, Ros Willis, Mayoress Jos Holder, and Chamber of Commerce president, Gail Parsons, as part of English Tourism Week.

English Tourism Week ran from March 14-22, to showcase the quality and vibrancy of visitor experiences and to highlight the importance of the tourism industry.

Mrs Willis, Mrs Holder and Mrs Parsons assisted in various tasks at the adventure park on March 21, including serving tea and coffee to visitors.

The week-long event also saw typically English activities, with daily free afternoon tea and performances from the Wells City Band, a group of amateur brass musicians, on March 22.

Alistair Mead, Puxton’s Managing Director, said: “Tourism plays an enormous part in boosting the national economy and we were delighted to hold our own celebrations.

“We were absolutely thrilled to welcome on board the mayor, mayoress and chamber of commerce president to help us for a day, allowing them to learn about the tourism industry.

“They both offered us tremendous support and we are extremely thankful for their assistance.”
