Heifers Scoop String of Awards At Top Family County Show

PUXTON Park is celebrating after its Holstein Cows won a string of awards at the North Somerset Show.

The one day event, held in Wraxall, is now in its 156th year, and is one of the most popular family farming events in the dairy farmer’s calendar.

Animals are at the heart of the community show, attracting hundreds of entries in various categories including dairy cows, horses, sheep and llamas.

Puxton Farm, which incorporates (D & P Mead & Co), won several awards and its Holstein Cow Lynchmeadelite Windbrook Rose was crowned reserve champion.

Winner of the category Three Cows in Milk was Willsbro Rose Goldwyn and Pair of females winners were Willsbro Rose Goldwyn and Reymerr Denise 2.

Lynchmeadelite Sid-Pamela won first place for Heifer in Milk (to have had her first calf when under 2.5 years old) and Lynchmeadelite Windbrook Rose won Dry Cow (at least 5 months in calf with second or subsequent calf).

Mike Potter, who looks after Puxton’s showing team, said: “Our Heifers come from a long line of winners and the majority of them are homebred.

“We are absolutely delighted to be crowned champions across all these categories and are now looking forward to competing at The Bath & West Show.”
